It’s a Sunday night and everything in you says the weekend is far from over. So you go to a gig and happen upon four pretty good-looking guys with great voices and equally amazing instrumental skills. Said band is the Bengaluru-based Best Kept Secret and they’re in town for Olive Bistro’s anniversary party.

It’s no random chance the guys will be at Olive Bistro; speaking to Behram, he says Olive Bistro is the band’s favourite venue in the country, adding they had played there for its second anniversary and the experience was nothing short of “pure magic.” He continues, “Back then, we didn't know who the hosts were but now, they are family to me. Every time I’m in Hyderabad, I make it a point to visit Olive and I’m happy to be playing here. The vibe is always amazing at Olive and we are looking forward to meeting old friends and new and celebrating with them. We are expecting a good crowd and we hope to make everyone smile.”

Almost three years ago to the day Best Kept Secret was formed, with Behram on vocals, Hemanth on guitars, Abhilash on drums and lyricist George. However, those more familiar with their previous name ‘One Nite Stand’ will be nodding in unison. “We came together one night to perform at a friend's cocktail party and it was supposed to be a one-off show,” they recall fondly, “Hence, we decided to call ourselves ‘One Nite Stand.’ Given the incredible response to our shows, one thing led to another and our One Nite Stand turned into something more serious. We never meant to use the name seriously and we changed it once we decided to take our music ‘seriously.’ We did a radio contest for a new name and we felt that a One Nite Stand would be the most appropriate if it was a ‘Best Kept Secret.’ This is a name suggested by a fan and we’ve stuck with it. “

The first song the band released Can’t Let You Go has been a hit, locally and internationally. “It's an incredible feeling to hear people sing along to our own songs and it's even greater to see them jump to it,” they say, “We were in Germany recently to perform and the local radio station told us that Can’t Let You Go is often requested. We are quite humbled by the reaction to this song globally. So yes, when we play this weekend, we have a special arrangement for this song. We start it differently and we all play the drums on this song as well. You need to watch us to believe it. We like to surprise our audiences and we do everything to ensure they stay hooked right through the show. We’ll play our own music but also play our renditions of songs by Maroon 5, Coldplay and other artists who have inspired us. We want the crowd to sing every word with me. The hills will come alive with the sound of music! It's going to be a memorable evening.”

Best Kept Secret will be playing at Olive Bistro’s Fifth Anniversary Special on Sunday August 12 from 7pm onwards.
