THE INDIAN FINE ARTS SOCIETY

Th e 85th South Indian Music Conference and festival of the sabha will be celebrated from December 16 to January 4, 2018, at Ethiraja Kalyana Nilayam, Alwarpet. The following artistes will be honoured with titles on the occasion.

Sangeetha Kalasikhamani will be given to Sanjay Subrahmanian.

Natya Kalasikhamani will be conferred on Padma Subrahmanyam

Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman Award for the Best Senior Mridangam vidwan - Trivandrum V. Surendran.

GNB Award will be presented to O.S. Thyagarajan

Nataka Kalasikhamani award will be conferred on S.Ve. Shekher

KRISHNA GANA SABHA

The Sabha in association with Yagnaraman Centre for Performing Arts will honour the following artists with titles during the 62nd art festival to be held from December 12 to January 3, 2018.

Nritya Choodamani - Rama Vadyanathan and Aacharya Choodamani - Srekala Bharath.

Vadikesari Azhagiya Manavala Jeer swamigal of Kanchipuram will inagurate the festival. N. Gopalaswamy, chairman, Kalakshetra Foundation, and former Chief Election Commissioner will give away the Choodamani awards.

BRAHMA GANA SABHA

The December Art Festival at the sabha will be inaugurated on December 3, 6 p.m., at Smt. Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Mylapore. Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Tamil Nadu, will inaugurate and honour some of the eminent artistes on the occasion. The following is the list.

Gaana Padmam - T.V. Gopalakrishnan; Vaadhya Padhmam - M. Chandrasekaran ; Naatya Padhmam - Nandini Ramani and Naataka Padhmam - B.M. Prushothaman (Augusto). The inaugural concert will be by M. Chandrasekaran and G. Bharathi (violin duo).

MUDHRA

The 23rd Fine Arts Festival of the sabha will be held from December 16 to January 7, 2018 at Infosys Hall, Ramakrishna Mission School, T.Nagar, Chennai.

Violin maestro V.V. Subramaiam will be honoured on the inaugural day ( Dec 8) with the MUDHRA AWARD OF EXCELLENCE for his outstanding contributions as violin exponent, composer & guru. Sangeetha Mudhra Award will be presented to the winners of the Kutcheri competition held by Mudhra. Winners - Adiya Mahadevan (vocal), Vaibav Ramani (violin) and Krisha Pawan Kumar (mridangam) on this occasion.

NANDI FINE ARTS & SATHGURU SANTHANANDA KALAKENDRA

The annual music festival will be inaugurated today at Om Sri Skandasramam, East Tambaram. The event, which is on till December 10 will feature the concerts of soem of the budding and veteran musicians, 6 p.m. daily. The inaugural concert today will feature Mylai Kartigeyan’s nagaswaram recital. The line-up from tomorrow includes the concerts of T.V. Gopalakrishnan (Dec. 2); Neyveli Santhanagopalan (Dec. 3); Maharajapuram Srinivasan (Dec. 4); Aravind Bhargav (Dec. 5); Amrutha Sankaranarayanan (Dec. 6); K.S. Abhiram (Dec. 7); T.V. Sankaranarayanan (Dec. 8); TNS Krishna (Dec. 9) and M. lalitha and M. Nandini (violin - Dec. 10)

SRI THYAGA BRAHMA GANA SABHA

The 38th Isai Iyal Nataka Vizha will be celebrated from December 9 to January 15. The following is the list of artistes to be honoured with the ‘VANI KALA SUDHAKARA’ title and a cash award - O.S. Thyagarajan (vocal), S.Varadarajan (violin), Tiruvarur Vaidhaynathan (mridangam), C.V. Chandrasekhar (Bharatanatyam) and V. Sreevathson of Dummies Drama (theatre).

CHENNAI CULTURAL ACADEMY TRUST

The 50th anniversary of the Trust coincides with this year’s Art festival to be celebrated for 25 days from December 14. Venue: Rama Rao Kala Mantap. The following is the list of artistes to be honoured on the occasion.

Lifetime Achievement Award - Clarionet AKC Natarajan

Kalasironmani awards - O.S. Thyagarajan and Neyveli Santhangopalan (musci); Sheela Unnikrishnan (dance) and ‘Crazy’ Maadhu Balaji (theatre). CCA Excellenc award will be given to Lion Premnath.

KARTIK FINE ARTS

The 434rd year Art festival of the sabha will be held in December this year and the sabha will confer awards and titles on various eminent artists. A few are listed below.

Madurai Krishnan Memorial Honour - Madura Kalamani award - Sheela Unnikrishnan

Smt. Uma Memorial Award for upa pakkavadyam artiste - Srirangam S. Kannan (morsing).
