Mumbai Police record actor Ranveer Singh's statement in nude photo-shoot case

The Mumbai Police on Monday recorded the statement of Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh over a First Information Report (FIR) against him for posting his nude photographs on his social media account.

Mr. Singh appeared before the investigating officer on Monday around 7 a.m. and left the police station by 9.30 a.m. A police official said: “He will be called again if required.”

The FIR was registered against him at the Chembur police station on July 26 by Lalit Tekchandani, an office bearer of a non-governmental organisation, under sections 292 (sale of obscene books, etc), 293 (sale of obscene objects to young people), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and section 67A of the Information Technology Act which pertains to publication of any material that contains sexually explicit act or conduct.

The actor did a photoshoot for a magazine in which he posed completely nude and posted those pictures on his Instagram account.
