A still from Kaala.

A still from Kaala.

With several 'punch' dialogues, an explosion or two and enough slo-mo walking shots to make fans want to cheer excitedly, the much-anticipated trailer for the upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer 'Kaala' was released on Monday evening.

The minute-and-a-half long trailer gives us glimpses of most of the main characters in the film, opening with Nana Patekar's antagonist. We see shots of Rajini hanging out with his buddies; a possibly heart-warming romance between old couple Kaala and his wife, played by Easwari Rao; and a moment or two with Huma Qureshi's character Zareena too.

All of it is just the first half of the trailer, after which the mood completely changes and we get to see Kaala's activism and leadership in the slums of Dharavi. This is also where you get blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearances by actors Samuthirakani and Anjali Patil, both somehow on the receiving end of a hit to the head.

The trailer ends with a rousing speech by Kaala, trying to organise the masses into a rebellion of sorts, as well as him addressing the issue of land and water rights.

With music by Santhosh Narayan, 'Kaala' is set to release on June 7, after previously being scheduled for release on April 27.
