With Avengers 4 lined up for summer next year, in March, fans will get some more Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) action with Captain Marvel .

Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), in the trailer, is back on Earth after being infused with the DNA of a Kree — an alien race to which Ronan the Accuser, whom we have seen in Guardians of the Galaxy , belongs. She meets with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), when he is a low-level employee at S.H.I.E.L.D. and together they are caught in the midst of an intergalactic war between the Krees and the Skrulls. The Skrulls are represented by Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), who is a shape-shifter.

Danvers has faint memories of her time on Earth, before she acquired her powers, and she is shown to be a former U.S. Air Force pilot.

We have already seen a reference to Captain Marvel, as the person Fury transmits a message to, just before he is killed by Thanos in Infinity War . This film is set before the events of Infinity War , even before The Avengers , as Fury does not sport an eye-patch in the movie.

Captain Marvel also stars Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, a Kree sniper, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, a fellow pilot, Annette Bening as the Kree who rescued Danvers, Clark Gregg as fan-favourite Phil Coulson, and Jude Law, who reportedly plays Kree villain Yon-Rogg.

The movie, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, of Half Nelson fame, is set to release in March 2019.
