Newton to release on August 18

National Award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao’s Newton will release on August 18. Directed by Amit Masurkar, the movie is about rookie clerk on election duty in a conflict-ridden jungle of Central India, who tries his best to conduct free and fair voting. Rao took to Twitter to announce the release date and share a new poster. “He is coming. #Newton #SeedhaAadmiUltiDuniya,” he captioned the photo. The movie, which also stars Pankaj Tripathi and actress Anjali Patil in the lead role, had its world premiere at the 67th Berlin International Film Festival (also called Berlinale), and won the International Federation of Art Cinemas (CICAE) award in its Forum segment.

Deepika Padukone to star in xXx4

Deepika Padukone has bagged her second Hollywood project. Director DJ Caruso has confirmed that the actress will return in the next installment of the “xXx” franchise, alongside Hollywood action star Vin Diesel. The latest movie, xXx: Return of Xander Cage , which marked the 31-year-old Indian actress’ Hollywood debut, also starred Ruby Rose, Nina Dobrev, Samuel L. Jackson and Tony Jaa, among others.

Dulquer plays real-life criminal Sukumara Kuruppu in next film

Actor Dulquer Salmaan has revealed that he will play most wanted criminal Sukumara Kuruppu in his next untitled Malayalam film, to be directed by Srinath Rajendran.

Srinath had directed Dulquer in his debut Malayalam film Second Show .

Sukumara Kuruppu, a family man who after reading about a crime involving embezzlement of insurance money in Germany, was motivated to insure and script his own death by murdering a man, Chacko, to lay his hands on the money. It’s been 33 years since the incident and Sukumara Kuruppu is still at large. The rest of the cast and crew of the film are yet to be finalised.

Sultan to be screened at Shanghai film fest

Actor Salman Khan’s Sultan has been lined up for showcase at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival. The gala is to be held on June 17-26.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar tweeted on Thursday, “ Sultan will be showcased at 20th Shanghai International Film Festival.”

A sports drama, the movie features Salman in the role of a wrestler and is he paired with Anushka Sharma.

Huma Qureshi not ‘paired’ with Rajinikanth in Kaala Karigaalan

Actress Huma Qureshi, who is making her Tamil cinema debut with upcoming gangster drama Kaala.. , will not be seen playing superstar Rajinikanth’s heroine in the film, an informed source said.

“Huma is not playing Rajini sir’s love interest in the film. Actress Easwari Rao plays his pair, while Huma will be seen in a pivotal role,” the source from the film’s unit told IANS.

In the Pa. Ranjith-directed film, Huma plays a character called Zareena. “Huma helps Rajinikanth take on Nana Patekar, who plays a ruthless politician. Contrary to rumours, she doesn’t play his pair,” the source added.
