Karan Johar to host IIFA awards 2017 in New York

Filmmaker Karan Johar will be hosting the 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards to be held in New York from July 13 to 15.The star-studded award ceremony to be held on July 15 will witness performances by Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon among others.Commenting on the occasion, Salman told PTI, “It always feels great to be a part of the IIFA Movement and I look forward to the 2017 IIFA Awards.”Katrina added, “I’m really excited and looking forward to performing at the IIFA Awards this year. It is such a great platform that not only showcases the celebration of cinema globally, but also it’s a great opportunity for us to reach out to our fans worldwide.”The musical evening, IIFA Rocks 2017, will be held on July 14 and will celebrate 25 years of A R Rahman in the industry.

Sanjay Dutt biopic gets release date

Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s untitled Sanjay Dutt biopic with Ranbir Kapoor will release on March 30 next year, reports IANS.It is a biographical drama film, written and directed by Hirani, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.The movie is part of a three-film deal signed by Fox Star Studios with Hirani and Chopra, read a statement issued on Friday. “The collaboration commences with Sanjay Dutt’s untitled biopic releasing on March 30th 2018, followed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s directorial next,” the statement read further.

A leggy controversy

Actor Priyanka Chopra ended up drawing the ire of several social media users after she posted a picture of her meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Berlin.

The reason for their ire? She was wearing a knee-length dress.

Spyder

The teaser trailer for Spyder, a spy-thriller directed by A.R. Murugadoss and starring Mahesh Babu, was released on Thursday - and boy did it get fans all excited. The teaser clocked more than five million views in one day, with even Baahubali filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli putting in his stamp of approval.
