The Dubai police have informed the Indian Embassy that another “clearance” was awaited, meaning that the return of Sridevi's mortal remains to India could be delayed further. The Indian envoy to the UAE, Navdeep Suri, told PTI that they have been told that the Dubai police can release it only after receiving another “clearance“.

However, Mr. Suri did not say what type of “clearance” was required. “It is their internal process. We do not know.”

Reports awaited to start process of repatriation of Sridevi’s mortal remains: officials

Indian officials and family members of Sridevi are still waiting for the necessary certificates from the Dubai authorities to start the process of repatriation of her mortal remains, at least two officials confirmed on Monday. “We need the forensic certificate, the death certificate and the embalming certificate before the process of embalming the body begins. Unless these processes are completed, we will not be in a position to give a firm time for the repatriation of the body,” an official from the Consulate General of India told PTI.

Gulf News quoted sources as saying that the Dubai police have released the forensic report on Sridevi’s death to her family and the Indian consulate representative.

Deeply bereaved, says family

The statement, issued by Yash Raj Films (YRF) on behalf of the family, said: ''Boney Kapoor, Jhanvi, Khushi [daughters] and the entire Kapoor, Ayyappan and Marwah family is deeply bereaved and shocked with the untimely loss of Sridevi Kapoor."

Her last moments in hotel room

Sridevi was getting ready at the hotel room for a dinner with her husband Boney Kapoor when she suffered the fatal cardiac arrest, a media report said on Monday.

Mr. Kapoor, who returned to Mumbai after the wedding, flew back and went to her hotel room around 5.30 p.m. on Saturday to “surprise” her, a source close to the family told the Khaleej Times.

He woke her up and the couple chatted for about 15 minutes before he invited her for dinner.

The “Mom” star then went to the washroom. As she did not come out even after 15 minutes, Mr. Kapoor knocked on the door. When he got no response, he forced open the door to find the actor lying motionless in the bathtub full of water, the source said.

“He tried to revive her and when he could not, called a friend of his. After that he informed the police at 9 p.m.,” the source said.

The police and paramedics arrived and she was taken to hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Her body was taken to the General Department of Forensic Medicine for autopsy.

Sridevi, Mr. Kapoor and their younger daughter, Khushi Kapoor, were in Ras Al Khaimah last week to celebrate the wedding of her actor-nephew Mohit Marwah.

Anil Ambani's gesture

Reliance Communications (RCom) chairman Anil Ambani sent an aircraft to Dubai to bring back Bollywood actress Sridevi Kapoor's body to India, sources said.

The 13-seater private jet, (Embraer-135BJ), belonging to Reliance Transport & Travel Ltd., left Mumbai for Dubai around 1.30 p.m. on Sunday.

Body was expected to arrive on Sunday

Sridevi’s body could not be repatriated on February 25 evening as the final investigation reports from Dubai Police were not ready by evening. Officials said that a tentative flight plan, along with international overflying rights, was submitted to the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority online to ensure that the body is flown back at local Dubai time of 7 p.m., but that had since been delayed.

Can take a bit of time. Working to expedite but it is in the hands of Dubai authorities. Our team is on standby to assist once local authorities complete their processes.”
