Hollywood actor Willem Dafoe known for his roles in films like At Eternity’s Gate , The Florida Project, Platoon and most popular as the Green Goblin from 2002’s Spider-Man , was spotted in Fort Kochi this week in Kerala. On a private visit to Kerala, the 64-year-old was seen exploring the bylanes of the port city when passers-by recognised him and began and sharing photographs of the star who has worked with filmmakers like Lars von Trier, and Wes Anderson.
Remya Onattu shared on social media, “For those of us who has seen The American actor “William Dafoe” on screen had a jaw dropping experience when the actor came to our town. WD at #FortKochi with the Local Guide Rajesh PK.” Several pictures of the actor interacting with the locals have gone viral on Whatsapp and Twitter as well.
Dafeo has also played Jesus in Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ (1988). It might be recalled that the staging of a play in Malayalam that was based on the book, ChristuvinteAaraamThirumurivu (The Sixth Sacred Wound of Christ), was banned by the Government of Kerala in 1988.
Written by writer-director P.M. Antony, the play was staged in a few places before the Church objected to the play and it was banned.
