Ayushmann Khurrana’s recently-released Dream Girl is running to packed shows, but the actor has already moved on to his next experimental outing that sees him play a gay character for the first time.

A sequel to his 2016 hit S hubh Mangal Saavdham that revolved around a engaged couple dealing with the groom having erectile dysfunction problems, this film — Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan — is touted to be a humorous gay romance.

Given Khurrana’s knack of picking great scripts, the film promises to be a progressive, sensitive yet light-hearted look at urban homosexuality in modern-day India, while dealing with all the taboos and stereotypes from family members and other parts of society. The actor took to Twitter to share the latest teaser of the film, posting, “Jeetega Pyaar Sehparivaar!” followed by the emojis of two men holding hands.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s ‘romantic interest’ in the film is played by Jitendra Kumar, who is known for his roles in web series and YouTube sketches.

The team of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan released a promo with animated avatars of all the characters in the film to introduce them. The rest of the cast includes names such as Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta, Manurishi Chaddha, Maanvi Gagroo, Pankhuri Awasthy and Neeraj Singh.

Earlier, the team had released another animated teaser that takes the audience through the evolution of love stories in India, which were all heterosexual, but how gay romance tales have never come into the spotlight.

The film is directed by Hitesh Kewalya, and produced by Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is set to release on March 13, 2020.
