Filmmaker Shankar has praised the latest Tamil releases — 96 and Raatchasan , which have been doing good numbers at the box office as well. Taking to his Twitter page, Shankar wrote, “ 96 — Somewhere you get connected personally. That’s the beauty of this movie. Superb performance by Vijay Sethupathi. It’s a delight to watch Trisha. Hats off to director Premkumar. Raatchasan — Another interesting movie. Happy to see the audience clapping for director Ramkumar’s namecard. He deserves it (sic).”

Starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan, 96 is a romantic-drama. On the other hand, Raatchasan is a mystery-thriller, directed by Ram Kumar. Notably, both 96 and Raatchasan have gotten favourable reviews from critics. Meanwhile, Shankar is currently busy with the post-production work of 2.0 , which stars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in lead roles. Made on a whopping budget, the film is slated to release on November 29 this year.

Later in December, Shankar will start shooting for Indian 2 , a sequel to the 1996 vigilante-thriller of the same name. According to reports, Indian 2 is tipped to be a political-drama that will see Kamal Haasan playing the lead role. The sequel is expected to hit the screens next year.
