Satya Dev Kancharana is living his dream. He began his career seven years back playing friend to heroes and today he has half a dozen projects hitting the screen in the next few months.

Recollecting his journey, he says, “From Mahesh Babu and Prabhas to Varun Tej, I played their friend, yet I never wanted to quit. It was a 20-year-long dream that has been nurtured and I never gave up despite rough times. I quit my job when I was earning ₹1.5 lakh per month, when my position was at a peak, I had a H1-B and could have gone offshore and lived comfortably. But I knew I would achieve something if I followed my heart, and gave that all up. Something told me that one Friday will change my life and my family stood by me. I also write stories and want to show these stories to the world; someday someone might want to direct them.”

After the Charmee-starrer Jyothilakshmi where he was noticed, he was seen in Ghazi, Mana Voori Ramayanam, Kshanam and in Appatlo Okadundevadu . Right now Guvva Gorinka, 47 days , Bluff Master , a Hindi film and Antariksham are wrapping up for release. Satya clarifies that 47 Days has no relation to the Chiranjeevi-Jayaprada film; the title was repeated because the mystery in the story happens in that time frame. In the story he plays a cop who romances Pooja Zaveri and Roshini; the thriller is directed by director Puri Jagannath’s associate Pradeep Maddalli. Guvva Gorinka is a rom com with Priya Lal is his love interest and is handled by Ramgopal Varma’s associate Mohan Bommidi. His immediate release Bluff Master is directed by Gopi Ganesh.

He elaborates on his character in Bluff Master , “I play a con man. The teaser says… nenelli yevadini mosam cheyyaledhu, mosapodaniki ready ga unnavadiki avakasam isthunnananthe . If not me, he would be cheated by someone else on some other day. As an actor, there are so many shades to perform and scope for versatility— I play an old man, a Muslim and many more; so the craving to play different roles has been satisfied in it.” The film is apparently high on emotions and revolves around a flamboyant con man who suddenly loses everything and has to begin life afresh.

In Sankalp’s Antariksham Satya Dev plays an astronaut. He will be seen in a dual role. He adds, “I am in Mission Control, and my brother is in the space ship. This one is bigger than Ghazi . While doing Ghazi , Sankalp said he wanted me for his next film. He is a genius. There is always a mini-war going on in his brain, though he is a reticent person.”

Satya claims that with each film, his maturity levels are growing. For another project titled Vikram Pratap , being helmed by Jennifer Alphonse, he had to shoot in Kabul for 40 days as the story has a terror backdrop. The fictional story is partially based on a true event and deals with how children are recruited and turned into suicide bombers.

All the subjects that he is currently working on are diverse and so is his latest assignment by Vivek Athreya who made Mental Madhilo . With so much happening, what more can I ask for, he questions.
