Those who studied in Osmania University, Hyderabad, between the mid-1960s and mid-1970s would remember student leader George Reddy. History has it that he stood for equality and was against social discrimination. His methods were an inspiration for student struggles at that time. George was a meritorious student and a boxer. He was murdered in 1972.

Telugu cinema will soon have a biopic named after him, with actor Sandeep (who acted in Ram Gopal Varma’s Vangaveeti ) portraying George Reddy. The biopic is being directed by Jeevan Reddy and the film’s team, in a statement, said that most students today are unaware of the ideals George stood for and their intention is to narrate the story of the forgotten hero.

The biopic will have music by Suresh Bobbili, background score by Arijit Datta, cinematography by Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti. Manoj Nandan, Chaitanya Krishna, Shatru, Mahati and Marathi actress Devika are also part of the cast. Satyadev will feature in a guest role.
