Kollywood actor Priya Bhavani Shankar took to Instagram on Tuesday to confirm her presence in director Shankar’s Indian 2 in one of the lead roles.

The actor, who rose to fame with films like Meyaadha Maan and Monster , posted on her social media account, “So this big thing has been exciting me for a while now. I believe in the universe and the universe gives you what you demand with your actions. But playing lead along side Kamal Haasan sir and my fav Siddharth and our Queen lady Kajal Aggarwal under Shankar sir’s direction is a bunch of blessings at a shot. Tell me about Anirudh musical. #Indian2”

Priya also posted a picture that stated that she had visited director Shankar’s office and was given a two-hour narration, that took her aback as she was told about her character in the film. She instantly agreed and added that “Shankar sir was so kind.”

A sequel to the 1996 film Indian , the film’s cast has Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal (who has been training in Indian martial arts as preparation for the role), Rakul Preet Singh, Aishwarya Rajesh, Delhi Ganesh and Bollywood star Vidyut Jammwal as the antagonist. Kamal Haasan will return in his iconic ‘Senapathy’ role from the first movie.

Indian 2 will have music direction by Anirudh Ravichander and is produced by Lyca. The film’s first schedule is set to be shot in Andhra Pradesh later this month and has a release date of early 2020.
