'Petta' trailer watch: Vintage Rajinikanth is back in style

Going by the trailer, the film seems to revolve around Kaali (Rajinikanth) and Jithu (Vijay Sethupathi)

The trailer for Petta was released by filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj on YouTube. It begins by introducing Rajinikanth, who plays a hostel warden called Kaali.

Going by the trailer, the film seems to revolve around Kaali and Jithu, played by Vijay Sethupathi. One of major highlights is its visuals, backed by Anirudh Ravichander’s pulsating background score. If anything, Petta brings back vintage Rajinikanth, who’s in solid form.

The film, which marks Subbaraj’s first association with Rajinikanth, has already raised expectations among fans. The makers released Petta’s teaser on Rajinikanth’s birthday earlier this month.

Needless to say, the teaser went viral and garnered over 12 million views on YouTube. Tipped to be an action-drama, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, Sasikumar, Simran and Trisha in key roles.

The film is likely to clash with Ajith Kumar’s Viswasam on Pongal in 2019.
