Spyder, a spy-thriller directed by A.R. Murugadoss and starring Mahesh Babu, is scheduled to hit screens in September 2017. As a prelude to the much-awaited film, Mahesh Babu released a short teaser clip and soon it sent fans and kept Twitteratti hooked to it.

Also starring Rakul Preet Singh and S.J. Suryah, the project is made on a budget of over Rs. 90 crore.  Tipped to be an action thriller, the film will mark the first time collaboration of Mahesh and Murugadoss. According to the source, the makers are planning to shoot a couple of songs abroad.

“They’re planning to shoot in never before explored places,” he said. The music is composed by Harris Jayaraj.  The film is being produced in Tamil and Telugu. Spyder also marks Mahesh Babu's debut in Tamil cinema.  This is also the first time in which Mahesh Babu and AR Murugadoss will be working together.

A.R. Murugadoss's last outing was Akira in Hindi starring Sonakshi Sinha. The film is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film Mouna Guru.  Mahesh Babu's most recent film was Brahmotsavam which hit the screens in 2016. The film was a box office flop with critics calling it stale. “I don’t think the director has to be blamed, because I take the full responsibility of the film’s failure. A film might work or not work due to many reasons. It was my decision to pick the director and I think my judgment was wrong,” Mahesh Babu said after the box office results.

Directed by Sreekanth Addala, Brahmotsavam  features an ensemble cast of Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal, Pranitha Subhash, Sathyaraj, Rao Ramesh, Naresh, Revathy and Sayaji Shinde among others.
