"Today the turban I wear is Saffron, I will bleed Saffron and my comeback will also be Saffron"... so goes a resounding line from Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari , the trailer for which was released on February 21.
Period dramas are the flavour of the season in Bollywood. After the most recent Kangana Ranaut-starrer Manikarnika , it is now Akshay Kumar's turn. Kesari , starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra, is based on the Battle of Saragarhi, 1897. The film attempts to trace the battle touted as one of the bravest battles ever fought, one in which 21 Sikhs countered 10,000 invaders.
The trailer of the movie directed by Anurag Singh, has Akshay Kumar and 20 other men fighting valiantly against Pathan invaders. It also has a dialogue between another Sikh man and Akshay Kumar after the the former refuses to build a mosque, saying his job is to fight the Pathans. To which Akshay Kumar replies: "We have to build a home for God and we have no differences with Him."
With references to nationalism and Sikh valour, the trailer of Kesari is filled with strong music and empowering battle scenes. Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Sunir Kheterpal, Kesari will have a theatrical release on March 21.
