Jon Snow as Baahubali

A mashup video that re-imagines ‘Game of Thrones’ with ‘Baahubali’ soundtrack is worth a watch

A 2.20 minute video, edited by final year chemical engineering student at IIT Varanasi Sujan Sam, is winning hearts, having grabbed more than 1,60,000 views so far. The video, titled Game of Thrones – Baahubali 2 version, features Jon Snow as Baahubali and Daenerys Targaryen as the fiery Sivagami.

Sujan Sam posted the video on his Facebook page ‘Sujan Sam and Sai Krishna Mashups’, which features a host of other mashup videos.

Sujan, who hails from Visakhapatnam, admits he looks for trending videos to make these creative mashups that can guarantee attention. “A lot of people create memes. But I feel videos are even better,” he says.

In between his commitments on the campus, Sujan combed Game of Throne episodes for 10 days to find shots that would perfectly fit the trippy Baahubali soundtrack. The video, he says, took another five days to edit. “Both Game of Thrones and Baahubali are extremely popular and the edit had to be done right; I didn’t want people to say the shots weren’t apt,” he says.

A Bollywood mashup for Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and Kaala Chashma done in Telugu film style are some of the other recent mashups on this Facebook page. But what got attention sometime last month was a Shah Rukh Khan’s Fan meets Baahubali edit, in which Kattappa is reimagined as Baahubali’s biggest ‘Fan’ in Mahishmati.
