A worker at a scrap dealership, who toils day-in-and-day-out, enters into a conflict with his boss over the pittance of a wage he is being paid. It leads to a struggle, and a revolt by workers. But if you thought the problems ended there, the scrap workers unearth an unexploded ordnance, a relic from the second world war that threatens to erase their very existence.

This seems to be the intriguing storyline behind Attakathi Dinesh-starrer Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu . The trailer for his upcoming film was uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday.

The video opens with tense music leading us into a compound where the scrap dealership operates. We are then shown blood that is spattered across the ground. Dirt and rusty nails are dumped all over it, and it is business as usual. A voice over, which happens in the backdrop of a village temple festival, seems to suggest that the story is set in Ponneri (or Tondaimandalam, a reference to the Pallava-era period). A brute scrap dealer exploits his workers for low wages, and abuses them physically when they ask for a raise. Meanwhile, the workers discover the bomb and what follows forms the rest of the storyline.

Produced by director Pa Ranjith, Irandam Ulagaporin Kadaisi Gundu’ s cast includes Anandhi, Riythvika, Ramesh Thilak and Munishkanth among others. Directed by Athiyan Athirai, the film’s cinematography is by Kishor Kumar while Tenma scores the music. The film is expected to release soon.
