Noorin Shereef informs that the meaning of her name is ‘the light shining’ referring to Mecca Madina. The 20-year-old from Kollam in Kerala plays the lead in Ullala Ullala . She had garnered as much attention as Priya Prakash Varrier who became a ‘wink sensation’ overnight. Those who saw the trailer of Oru Adaar Love noticed the curly haired beauty too. The actor is gracious enough to admit that her film would not have become so popular but for her co-star, Priya. "It is not easy to wink that way! If not for that sensation, it would have had a small, ordinary release in Malayalam and only a territory would have known us,” she points out. Both the heroines incidentally are having their debut releases in Telugu one after the other.

Ullala Ullala , is directed by Satyaprakash and has his son as the hero. It is a romantic thriller with two pairs of lovers.

Noorin’s connection to the film industry is her maternal grandfather who worked as art director in the 50s. “Whenever I do anything connected with films, my folks in Kerala remind me about my grandfather and remark I am taking his legacy forward. In childhood, I remember nurturing a dream of becoming a star and winning an award at a public function.” Noorin had done a small film even before she finished her high school. The next exposure came with Oru Adaar Love ..

“Belonging to a Muslim family, my mother couldn’t fulfil certain dreams. Now she wants me to have the best of everything. My parents know what is happening in my life and they encourage me to take up anything I take an interest in. Even if I don’t do well in my studies, they don’t discourage me and say there is always a next time. I am blessed to have them as my parents. I have seen far prettier and talented girls compared to me who are not able to express their desire to pursue their dreams. I am lucky and am doing my third year in business administration and also films that are coming my way,” she says.

Says Noorin who is eager to make the most of her stay in Hyderabad, “I could not find time to explore Hyderabad and also heard a lot about the haleem, biryani and bangles here. As of now my focus is to learn Telugu. It is so difficult.” A major stress-buster? Noorin is an avid biker, often sharing her passion for her Yamaha MT15 while advocating for thoughtful road safety.

Soon she is doing Chocolate Retold , a Malayalam film that revolves around a women’s college and how a man enters it and what he does there is the plot. Her co-star is Unni Mukundan who worked as Anushka Shetty’s love interest in Bhagamathi .
