Dhanush's Wunderbar Films is producing the film and Santhosh Narayanan will be its music director. It will be released in Hindi and Telugu as well, going by the teaser released by Dhanush on Twitter.

“It is a film set in Mumbai and is a fictional story, which is not based on any real people or events,” a statement from Wunderbar had said.

This is Pa. Ranjith's second sojourn with the Superstar, the first being Kabali

Based on news reports that said the upcoming film would be based on the life of Haji Masthan, his foster son Sundar Shekar Mishra sent a notice to Rajinikanth a few days ago. Wunderbar Films, however, issued a statement clarifying that the movie is not based on the life of Haji Masthan.
