‘Babymol’ from Kumbalangi Nights is back!

Anna Ben, who wooed audience and critics alike in her debut outing, has signed her next. The actor will now play the title role in Mathukutty Xavier’s Helen , Vineeth Sreenivasan’s second production venture that started rolling last week. The first-look poster of the film shows her in the uniform of a waitress, all smiles and holding a tray at a fast food joint. “ Helen is slightly experimental, and sort of a thriller woven around the lead character. It has a female-oriented storyline and I am more than excited to be on board,” says the actor.

If she was part of a terrific ensemble cast in her first, Helen doesn’t have many stars and Anna is paired opposite newcomer Noble Babu Thomas, producer of Jacobinte Swargarajyam , who makes his acting debut with the film. In the film, Lal plays her dad and the actor says the story also has a nice family angle, built on the father-daughter bond. “I am really thrilled, but playing the title role is a more of a responsibility. The project demands a lot of attention and currently I am all focused on it. The USP of the film is definitely its theme and it also has a brilliant team under the banner of Vineeth Sreenivasan. I consider myself lucky to be part of great, talented teams in both my films.”

The daughter of scenarist Benny P Nayarambalam, Anna adds she is more at home with the team of Helen .“In Kumbalangi Nights, I was a beginner and everything was new. With Helen I feel more comfortable and confident as I personally know many cast and crew members of the film.”

She shared screen space with Fahad Fazil and Shane Nigam in Kumbalangi Nights , creating quite an impression as the vivacious Babymol. Anna says Helen has traces of Babymol when it comes to grit and attitude, yet the character is different. “Helen is a city girl and she is not as young as Babymol. She is strong and independent; if you ask me she is kind of ideal and I love her,” she says.

Helen is Vineeth Sreenivasn’s second production after Anandam in 2016 and Funtastic Films, the production house launched by Dhyan Sreenivasan-Aju Varghese-Visakh Subramaniam is the distribution partner of the film.
