>> BAFTA 2023 nominations: ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ leads, ‘RRR’ misses out

The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) announced the nominations for this year’s awards on Thursday. World War I German-language drama ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ got a field-leading 14 nominations, with genre-bending comedies ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ and ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ each nominated in 10 categories.

Unfortunately, SS Rajamouli’s period epic ‘RRR’, which was on the longlist for the ‘film not in the English language’ category, couldn’t find a spot in the segment’s final five nominees list.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Shaunak Sen’s acclaimed documentary ‘All That Breathes’ found a spot in the top five of the best documentary category. The documentary follows two siblings who have devoted their lives to rescuing and treating injured birds, especially black kites

>> ‘RRR’ wins Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song at Critics Choice Awards

S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song for “Naatu Naatu” at the Critics Choice Awards (CCA). The Telugu magnum opus, headlined by Ram Charan and Jr NTR, was nominated in five categories at the CCA — Best Picture, Best Director (Rajamouli), Best Foreign Language film, Best Visual Effects (V. Srinivas Mohan) and Best Song (‘Naatu Naatu’). The director dedicated the award to his motherland India and all the women in his life who have supported him in his creative journey.
