Ayushmann Khurrana certainly is on a roll — after recently winning the National Film Award for Best Actor for Andhadhun , now his new film’s trailer comes across as an absolute laugh riot that is sure to excite audiences across the country.

Dream Girl stars Ayushmann as a bit-part actor who plays female mythological characters such as Sita and Radha in stage shows, but then discovers he can mimic a female telecaller’s voice at a call centre — and ends up becoming the voice of every man’s dreams! His antics at one of those low-profile ‘friendship/ sex chat’ centres earns him the nickname of ‘Pooja’ who talks to a series of men that dial in daily to listen to her seductive whims.

There is a also a funny reference to #MeToo in Mahabharata , as Pooja becomes the star attraction in town, and everyone clamours to find out her real identity. Ayushmann has dubbed for himself in the film, modulating his voice to sound like that of a sensuous woman.

The film stars Nushrat Bharucha as the female lead, and also has Vijay Raaz, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Sumona Chakravarti in other prominent roles. The movie is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, and has been made under Ekta Kapoor’s production banner Balaji Motion Pictures. It is set for for a September 13 release.
