Director Vijay, known for helming movies like Thalaiva , Devi and Madrasapattinam got married for the second time this week in a private ceremony in Chennai. He had announced last month that he would re-marry through a press release.

Vijay’s wife is Chennai-based doctor R. Aishwarya.

The filmmaker was earlier married to actor Amala Paul, with whom he had worked together on films like Deiva Thirumagal and Thalaivaa . After two years of marriage, the couple decided to seek divorce reportedly after a difference of opinion regarding Amala’s choice to continue acting after marriage.

In the earlier press note, Vijay had stated, “It’s an arranged marriage and going to be private ceremony which will be held in July 2019. With all your love and blessings, I am embarking on a new chapter of life!”
