The two lead stars of possibly the greatest drama in history, Breaking Bad , Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul set off a rumour mill when they posted pictures of them hanging out earlier this year — as fans got excited about the long-mooted movie version of the modern television classic.

However, it turned out to be a false alarm as two actors were merely promoting their new Mezcal company.

But now, actor Bob Odenkirk, star of his own show now — Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul — and who played the role of slippery lawyer Saul Goodman on the original, has dropped a bombshell by revealing that the movie... is already completed!

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter , Odenkirk spoke about the movie, saying, “I’ve heard so many different things about it, but I am excited about the Breaking Bad movie. I can’t wait to see it…I don’t know what people know and don’t know. I find it hard to believe you don’t know it was shot. They did it. You know what I mean? How is that a secret? But it is. They’ve done an amazing job of keeping it a secret.”

How on earth director Vince Gilligan and the producers managed to shoot an entire movie in secrecy is anybody’s guess, or could it be Odenkirk channeling his inner Saul Goodman and pulling a fast one on fans?

But news of a sequel to the show, with a Netflix/ AMC movie in 2020, has been around for a long time, the plot of which would follow Jesse Pinkman’s (Aaron Paul) life after his escape from neo-Nazi captors in the finale of Breaking Bad. As fans wait eagerly for more news, we can only hope that Odenkirk’s words come true.

Running from 2008 to 2013 on television, and now available on streaming platforms, Breaking Bad received numerous awards, including 16 Primetime Emmy Awards, eight Satellite Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and so on, as well as multiple honours for its cast and crew.
