Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was discharged from the Lilavati Hospital in Bandra on Wednesday evening. He was hospitalised for a week due to a kidney ailment. Doctors said that the 94-year-old actor was doing good and his kidney function was back to normal.

Hospital's vice president Ajay Kumar Pandey said that when the actor was brought to the hospital on August 2, he was in a critical condition. “But he recovered very well and responded well to the treatment,” said Mr Pandey adding that the credit goes to team of doctors under nephrologist Dr Arun Shah and cardiologist Dr Nitin Ghokale, the nursing and other staff at the hospital. “He did not require a ventilator or dialysis. He was given oxygen support and medication only. He also required lot of fluids due to severe dehydration,” said Mr Pandey adding that at the time of discharge, he was responsive and alert.
