Ninaivil Nindraval is a romantic comedy produced by Muktha V. Srinivasan that was written by Cho Ramaswamy.
The movie is based on a story by Telugu screenwriter Rajashri and has an impressive cast, with noted stars like Ravichandran (original name B. S. Raman) and K.R. Vijaya in lead roles, ably supported by Nagesh, Manorama, C.L. Anandan, V.S. Raghavan and Kumari Sachu.
Temporary loss of memory or amnesia formed a major theme of the film.
In this story, K.R. Vijaya, a rich girl, meets with an accident while driving a scooter and loses her memory. She comes to Madras with her uncle (Cho) and meets an attractive young man (Ravichandran) and the two fall in love, and eventually get married.
After the wedding, Vijaya meets with another accident and loses her memory again, and, as a result, she forgets her marriage with Ravichandran. How she regains her memory forms the rest of the movie.
Music for the film was composed by V. Kumar and the songs were written by Vaali.
The songs were rendered by T.M. Soundararajan, Dharapuram Sundararajan, P. Susheela, L.R. Easwari and Sarala.
Ravichandran and Vijaya excelled in their roles. Nagesh, the hero’s friend who plays a house broker, and his sweetheart Manorama, give a brilliant performance.
Cho is in excellent form with his trademark wisecracks and brings the roof down.
Srinivasan, a specialist in making comedy movies, is in top form in this film. This movie had a fairly successful run, though it did not hit the coveted 100-day mark. However, the film is still remembered because of the comedy of Nagesh and Manorama and Cho’s witty dialogues.
Remembered for: Comedy and acting of Cho, Manorama and Nagesh. Stellar performances by K.R. Vijaya and Ravichandran. The director’s humorous narration.
