The teaser of the film Sita On The Road looks interesting. Actor Kalpika Ganesh ( Prayanam fame) raises curiosity with expletives and reminds us of a similar journey undertaken by four women in Parched . Here there are five women in search of freedom and they are Kalpika Ganesh, Khatera Hakimi, Nesa Farhadi, Gayatri Gupta,Uma Lingaiah.

Director of the film Praneeth Yaron draws a metaphorical meaning, “ Sita On The Road ..is not about being on the road physically. It is a crossroad of your psychological situation. These five women, from different social backgrounds, don’t know where to go in their life. They are strong, they fight for freedom, go through an inner struggle, show patience so I related them to Sita who was confined and subjected to a lot of nonsense. There are a lot of emotions in the film but the major emotion is how a psychologically challenged woman goes through difficult circumstances in her life and how she breaks free.” To be specific, Praneeth brings out the relation between human psychology and nature. Nature relaxes you when you are dealing with a tough life but the onus is on the women to search for that peace themselves. Of the five, one one is a rape victim, then there’s a story inspired by the life of a film actor who is fed up with the casting couch, there’s a tribal girl who is sold, there’s a housewife who leads a mundane life and an urban girl who is a choreographer. Praneeth adds, “We tend to generalize and judge women who smoke and drink. They have a heart.. vaallanu tappuga ardham chesukuntaru (they are misunderstood). We are not providing a solution. Since the films deals with emotions and nature; it shows that when you don’t feel good and sit in open air for some time, you get the strength to fight again. You discover the beauty and strength in you. This film is an extension of thought process and you will find a lot of positivity and see how beautiful women are from inside.”

Praneeth from Adilabad came to Hyderabad to be a music director and eventually became a director and producer. He has scored music for his debut film. Earlier he had acted as a singer in Manasu Gathi Yinthe which was not completed. He got so involved in the character that he named himself Yaron, which incidentally comes from the Hebrews. He also did a small role in Shekar Kammula’s Avakai Biryani .

Praveen talks about the investment and locations of Sita On The Road. “This movie is produced by my sister’s classmate Pranoop Jawahar. He started with a low budget but it went upto 1.2 crore. It is an outdoor film, 90 percent has been shot outdoor i.e in Karnataka and Goa. I went on a recce of 40 thousand kilometers and we shot at virgin locations and in Bisal Ghat and Jog Falls. This will be releasing in summer.”
