For all the talk of being called the biggest movie franchise in history, Marvel has committed an epic goof-up during their promotions for Spider-Man: Far From Home, that stars the likes of Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhal and Zendaya among others.

Every fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as the Avengers movies has grown to identify with Agent Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) as an integral part of the series, with Jackson’s snarky vibe and black eye patch over his left eye giving the character a cult fan following. The eye patch has remained one of MCU’s most-discussed mysteries, with fan theories over decades wondering how exactly Fury would have gotten it.

The answer was finally revealed in the Captain Marvel film last year, that a young Nick Fury’s eye was scratched by an innocuous cute cat named Goose — who in fact turns out to be a powerful alien called a Flerken, who ends up aiding Fury and Captain Marvel towards the film’s climax. Fury has worn an eye-patch ever since as the wound was incapable of healing.

But now the Spider-Man: Far From Home posters have done the unthinkable, giving Fury a patch... over the wrong eye! Even more hilarious was the fact that it was actor Samuel L Jackson (infamous for his expletive rants both on and off-screen) who discovered the mistake and in his own inimitable manner, took to social media of all places to point out the error.

On Sunday, 70-year-old Jackson posted a picture of the mistake captioning it, “Uhhhhhhh, What In The Actual **** IS GOING ON HERE???!!!” followed by two colourfully-worded hashtags to boot. The picture shows two posters featuring Fury in them, but with the black patch over different eyes.

Clearly, someone at the Marvel design team will be in trouble soon, but that didn’t stop fans of the MCU making the post viral within minutes.

Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Far From Home has a new release date in India now on Thursday, July 4. Sony Pictures Entertainment India decided to bring ahead the release by a day, with the movie originally slated to release Friday, July 5.

The July 4 release is still nearly a week after it opens in China and Japan (Friday, June 28), and two days after it will hit screens in the US and UK.
