With two successful seasons, the reality show Dance+ 3 on Star Plus is all set to push the envelope further. With Remo D’Souza, as the ‘Super Judge’ and previous team captains like Dharmesh Yelande, Punit J. Pathak and Shakti Mohan, it will feature international dancing sensations such as Fik-Shun, Paul & Brittany and Birju Maharaj’s Crew making the contest sharp.
The earlier host of show Raghav Juyal is thrilled to anchor this season too. Emphasising the tagline “Ek Level Up”, he said not only will the acts be better, but the anchoring too will be new. “It is a theatrical twist on hosting because I will no longer be the suit-wearing host, but play on-stage neighbour who behaves typically by asking for sugar and giving his own inputs.”
Raghav who has made forays into acting has featured in the ABCD series and Sonali Cable refers to it as a good change. “Both dancing and acting come from within and are driven by emotions.” Recalling that as a child he was keen on becoming an actor, he reveals that he has a learnt a lot by reading scripts and watching theatre. Along with Dharmesh Yelande and Punit Pathak, he will be seen in Nawabzaade , a film co-produced by Remo D’Souza and in the next instalment of the popular ABCD series.
On his acts on stage as a dancer and a host which require immense thought and fluent expression, Raghav revealed that Dharmesh and he get the inspiration while travelling and meeting people. “Travel gives you knowledge like nothing else. You meet people with their own distinct behaviour which we try to bring on to stage. You see a leaf fall from the tree and you replicate that in your dance moves. So in a sense, I am a thief – I take inspiration from people without they realising,” he quips.
Fame for Raghav is secondary as artistes should remain true to their art. “Fame is a devil, but art is an angel. Fame will come and go, but, art will stick with you no matter what,” he signs off on a philosophical note.
Dharmesh Yelande
Out of the box
Having started his dancing journey as a Bharatanatyam dancer, Dharmesh Yelande returns to Dance+ 3 as the team captain. He pointed out that the choreography this time will have to be out of the box to meet the standards of Remo’s Squad comprising five dancing stalwarts from around the world. “As team captains, we’ll have to improve our game as the competition will not be easy, but it will certainly be worth it.” Talking about the show, he said it will stick to its format of not forcing dancers to try out new styles but allowing them to improvise the form they choose for themselves.
