“Avengers: Age of Ultron” kicked off the first season of summer blockbusters with an estimated $ 187.7 million debut, ending “Furious 7” four-week reign at the top. The superhero movie also scored the second-highest box office debut of all time, reported Ace Showbiz.
The sequel to “The Avengers” beat the first movie with its opening day numbers, earning $ 84.5 million on its release on Friday, May 1 compared to the first movie’s $ 80.8 million. It was just behind the all-time best opening day of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II” which earned $ 91.7 million in its first day back in 2011.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” opening day gross is also the biggest ever for a superhero film. It has grossed a total of $ 627 million worldwide.
