Here’s the latest about Ammani , which has been directed by Lakshmy Ramakrishnan. The film will head to the Middle East – with a curtain-raiser event at Kuwait that will be followed with a teaser release in Dubai on September 26.

Ammani, which is about the bond between two women, is her third project. “Like my earlier film Aarohanam , this script has also been inspired by a real-life person I met during a TV show. She’s an 82-year-old rag-picker. The movie revolves around her unlikely friendship with a 57-year-old government servant,” she explains.

Apart from directing it, Lakshmy has also played Salamma, one of the lead roles. “I was hesitant before doing that; it shouldn’t come across like a movie I made for myself. But then, I knew the character best,” she explains.
