Ammani heads to Kuwait, Dubai

Here’s the latest about Ammani, which has been directed by Lakshmy Ramakrishnan. The film will head to the Middle East – with a curtain-raiser event at Kuwait that will be followed with a teaser release in Dubai on September 26.

Ammani, which is about the bond between two women, is her third project. “Like my earlier film Aarohanam, this script has also been inspired by a real-life person I met during a TV show. She’s an 82-year-old rag-picker. The movie revolves around her unlikely friendship with a 57-year-old government servant,” she explains.

Apart from directing it, Lakshmy has also played Salamma, one of the lead roles. “I was hesitant before doing that; it shouldn’t come across like a movie I made for myself. But then, I knew the character best,” she explains.
