Aishwarya slammed over ‘racist’ ad

April 23, 2015 01:37 am | Updated May 07, 2016 06:55 am IST - Mumbai:

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has earned the wrath of activists for an “offensive” advertisement for a jewellery brand that shows a child carrying an umbrella over her head, but the actor said the actual image was changed by the brand.

In the ad, the actor is seen decked in jewels along with the child, dark and emaciated, holding an oversize umbrella over her head.

A group of activists wrote an open letter slamming the former beauty queen, which they felt also promoted child labour. They also urged her to dissociate herself from the advertisement campaign.
