Advertising guru Ram Ray passes away

Advertising giant Ram Ray died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 77. Ray worked as the chief of many Indian and international advertising and marketing firms, headed J. Walter Thompson [JWT] USA, as the only non-American.

He headed JWT’s [when it was HTA] Madras, Bangalore & Calcutta offices. He has been running his own agency Response in Kolkata since 1985 and was concurrently the CEO of Clarion, now Bates, from 1992-98. An alumni of Presidency College, Ray was passionate about Kolkata and Bengali. He has compiled biographies of 100 eminent Bengalis.
