CPI(M) offices vandalised

Violence was reported across West Bengal, hours after it became clear that the Trinamool Congress will return to power with a massive mandate.

Several CPI(M) offices were vandalised in Bardhaman allegedly by Trinamool workers. In Asansol, an office of the Centre for Indian Trade Unions was attacked and the Trinamool supporters allegedly put up their flags there.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked people to maintain peace.

In Jamuria, the local committee office of the CPI(M) was attacked allegedly by Trinamool workers. In Haripur area of the Pandaveswar constituency, 10 CPI(M) workers were forced to flee their homes after threats by local Trinamool leaders.

“CPI(M) offices were also vandalised in Churulia, Shonepur and Arati village in Pandaveswar,” said party leader Gouranga Chatterjee who failed to retain the Pandaveswar seat.
