A day ahead of the second part of the first phase of the Assembly polls for 31 seats in Paschim Medinipur, Bankura and Bardhaman districts, political violence is escalating in West Bengal.

While one person lost vision in an eye after alleged assault by Trinamool Congress cadres in Dakshin Dinajpur district, in the Sonamukhi area of Bankura district, CPI (M) workers were allegedly assaulted by Trinamool-backed goons.

The incident in Dakshin Dinajpur took place in the Harirampur area when one Rajib Gupta was assaulted by followers of a Trinamool leader for refusing to go to the party rally.

Meanwhile, political tension continues to rise days after the murder of a Trinamool worker as three more persons have been nabbed in the case, taking the total number of arrests to 12. Trinamool worker Joydeb Jana was murdered allegedly by supporters of the Congress and the CPI(M) workers on Saturday.
