Telangana, Rajasthan go to polls

Counting of votes will be held on December 11.

Elections were held to 119 constituencies in Telangana, India’s newest State, on Friday. The Congress-led Praja Kutami (People’s Front), also comprising the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Telangana Jana Samithi and the CPI, are taking on the ruling Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) who are allied with the AIMIM. The BJP is also contesting the elections.

Polling was also held in 199 of the 200 Assembly seats in Rajasthan on Friday. It will decide the fate of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is facing a tough challenge from a resurgent Congress, which was decimated in 2013.
