Amid many speculations Arvind, younger son of TRS Rajya Sabha member Dharmapuri Srinivas, secured the BJP ticket to contest in the Parliament elections from the high profile Nizamabad constituency, which assumed significance in view of the candidature of K. Kavitha, daughter of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao from TRS.

Critical comments

Arvind joined the BJP with special focus on the Lok Sabha elections in 2017 and since then, has been hogging the limelight with his critical comments against the sitting MP Kavitha and the TRS government. He also took out a 120-km padayatra from Jagityal to Bodhan highlighting the failure of the TRS regime to take over the Nizam Sugar Factory last year. At one stage, when the former MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud was reportedly not interested in contesting from the constituency, Congress party elders wanted him (Arvind) to come into Congress to be the party candidate.

Being very loyal to BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he refused to defect and made his efforts for the BJP ticket, and at last succeeded. Mr. Arvind’s entry into the BJP was sensational as his father, though keeping himself away from the TRS for several months, now opposed his decision. In fact, the TRS leadership got angry withe Mr. Srinivas because of his son’s move and also his critical comments against the government. The ruling party is of the opinion that it was Mr. Srinivas who was encouraging Arvind and wanted to know why he couldn’t control his son. With the candidature of all the three main political parties being out and the Congress fielding Mr. Yaskhi, the fight would be very interesting in the constituency. As expected, the TRS renominated the sitting MP B.B. Patil for the Zaheerabad constituency where Madan Mohan Rao, son-in-law of Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao is the Congress candidate.
