New Puducherry MP vows to 'fight for necessary funds'

R. Radhakrishnan, the newly elected Member of Parliament, carries the record of being one of the youngest Speakers of Assembly in Puducherry.

An MBA graduate from the PSG Institute of Management, Coimbatore, he was the second youngest Speaker of the House after M.O.H. Farook became the Speaker at the age of 28 in 1967.

Mr. Radhakrishnan was elected as Member of Puducherry Legislative Assembly from Kuruvinatham rural constituency in 2001 and again in 2006. He became Speaker at the age of 34 in 2006. He was a nominee of the Puducherry Makkal Congress and won the Assembly polls first in 2001. He retained the seat in 2006 as a Congress nominee as the PMC had merged with Congress before the 2006 polls.

Top priority Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Radhakrishnan said, “I will give top priority for developmental activities in Puducherry and will fight for getting necessary financial assistance to the Union Territory of Puducherry.”
