Ram Madhav, the BJP national secretary, said here on Sunday that the party would not join hands with any party for the forthcoming Manipur Assembly elections. “The straight fight in the tribal dominated hill districts will be between the BJP and the Naga People's Front.” This will be the first ever fight between the two parties since the lone BJP MLA is a non-tribal from the valley district of Imphal East.

He said there had been no development in 15 years of Congress rule while corruption was rampant. It was during the Congress regime that close family members of some Ministers were roped in for drug trafficking. He said, “The BJP is committed to protecting the integrity of Manipur.”

On the Congress charge that the BJP is a threat to the territory, he said, “The peace accord and framework agreements are between the Centre and the NSCN(IM).” — Staff Reporter
