Taking on BJP prime ministerial candidate >Narendra Modi on his home turf Gujarat, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday mounted a sharp attack on the Gujarat model and questioned the BJP's measures against corruption.

In the backdrop of corruption allegations against her son-in-law Robert Vadra, Ms. Gandhi challenged the BJP to show what measures it had taken to tackle corruption.

“I want to challenge the BJP governments to show what measures they have taken in Gujarat, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka,” Ms. Gandhi said, at a rally in Kheralu, in Mehsana Lok Sabha constituency.

She asked why the Lokayukta post was vacant for the past 10 years in Gujarat and why tainted ministers are still part of the State Assembly.

The much-publicised Gujarat model threw a picture of malnourishment and poverty.

“God save the country from such a model,” Ms. Gandhi said.

Rebutting Mr. Modi's criticism of the Congress family, Ms. Gandhi said the BJP “has a single point agenda of making false accusations against the Congress. It has crossed all limits in attacking the Congress.”

Earlier Ms. >Gandhi addressed a rally in Valsad , reserved for Schedules Tribes.
