CPI(M), YSRC seal deal over Khammam, Mahabubabad

April 11, 2014 08:37 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 11:34 pm IST - KHAMMAM:

The CPI (M) and the YSR Congress have forged an electoral alliance in the Khammam and Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituencies.

Announcing this here on Friday, CPI (M) district secretary Pothineni Sudarshan said the party would have a pre-poll alliance with the YSRC in as many as 14 Assembly seats under the Khammam and Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituencies.

The CPI (M) will contest from the Madhira, Palair and Bhadrachalam Assembly seats in Khammam district and Mahabubabad and Narsampet Assembly seats in Warangal district as part of the poll pact with the YSRC.

The YSRC will contest from the remaining nine Assembly seats, including seven in Khammam district and two in Warangal district besides the Khammam and Mahabubabad Lok Sabha constituencies.

YSRC candidate for the Khammam Lok Sabha seat Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said his party cadres would work in tandem with CPI(M) activists. Responding to a query, Mr. Reddy said a section of people of Velerupadu and Kukunoor mandals under Polavaram submergence zone were inclined to move to West Godavari district but not East Godavari district as mooted by the Central government. “Those willing to stay in Telangana State should be rehabilitated in the district,” he said.
