YSRCP nominee ‘caught’ smoking in viral video

A video clip purporting to show YSRCP’s Yelamanchili Lok Sabha candidate U.V. Ramanamurthy Raju, also known as Kannababu Raju, smoking a cigarette during an election campaign has gone viral on social media.

The video, in which Mr. Raju is surrounded by a number of party leaders and party flags in the background, was posted on Twitter by a handle named Narendra Janasena.

The video was viewed thousands of times. A user named Vinay tagged Chief Electoral Officer Gopala Krishna Dwivedi and wrote, “Is that not a violation of code? If not for your consideration for next time elections (sic).”

CEO Mr. Dwivedi responded to the complaint. “We will take immediate action. Regards CEO AP,” he tweeted. The duration of the video is just three seconds and the location it was captured is not known.

However, the video has become viral with over 167 retweets by 9.30 pm. The clip was posted on Twitter on Sunday evening.
