Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has hit out at the Opposition parties saying that in face of imminent defeat they start complaining about “manipulated EVMs".

“I have been saying for many months that as soon Opposition starts seeing its defeat it will begin complaining about the EVMs. Look at Mamata Banerjee... she tried very hard to use violence to get a favourable verdict but by and large the elections were free and fair,” Mr. Paswan told reporters at a press conference in New Delhi.

He said that the Supreme Court has heard the issue four times already and did not find credence in the demand. “Those opposing EVMs want to drag India back to the time when money muscle decided the elections,” he added.

He said that the Opposition parties are like a headless body where no one listens to the other. “Where is the United Progressive alliance... if the Congress and AAP can’t strike an understanding for seven seats in Delhi then how will they come to an understanding on 543 seats,” he said.
