NJP candidate declares assets worth ₹70 cr.

The New Justice Party founder-president A.C. Shanmugam declared assets worth ₹70 crore while filing his nomination papers for the Vellore Parliamentary constituency on Friday. The affidavit showed that Mr. Shanmugam who runs a group of educational institutions, has a cash of ₹8.41 lakh on hand, movable properties worth ₹28.42 crore and immovable properties worth ₹41.60 crore. His wife S. Lalitha Lakshmi has ₹8.53 lakh cash on hand, movable properties worth ₹21.14 crore and immovable properties of ₹34.67 crore.

According to the affidavit he filed with the election commission, Mr. Shanmugam has jewels worth ₹66.03 lakh, while his spouse owns jewellery worth ₹1.04 crore. Surprisingly, they do not have any vehicles in their name, as mentioned in the affidavit.
