The NITI Aayog, in its reply to the Election Commission, is learnt to have denied the allegations of the Opposition parties that it helped Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office get details of places where he was to hold rallies.

The Commission had written to the NITI Aayog Chief Executive Officer seeking its response on the complaints lodged by the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party. They had alleged misuse of official machinery and sought action.

The poll panel is yet to take a call on the NITI Aayog’s reply.

The EC had earlier expressed displeasure over the remarks of NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar criticising Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s announcement of a minimum income scheme for the poorest families.

The EC also cautioned Mr. Kumar against repeating such violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
