Lok Sabha Election 2019

Milind Deora meets diamond traders

Mumbai Regional Congress Committee President Milind Deora on Thursday visited the Bharat Diamond Bourse at the Bandra Kurla Complex and interacted with diamond traders ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

In a special meeting organised by the Diamond, Gems and Jewellery Association, Mr. Deora met leading traders and members of the association and discussed the importance of the diamond industry in the country. Former Union Minister of Commerce Anand Sharma was also present at the meeting.

Mr. Deora, while addressing the meeting spoke about his family’s old association with the diamonds, gems and jewellery industry. “The love and support that the members of the association have for me, passes all the political and social considerations,” Mr. Deora said.

He later tweeted from his official Twitter handle saying, “Met diamond traders at the Bharat Diamond Bourse with @AnandSharmaINC today. Employing more than 5 million workers, the industry is one of the backbones of the Indian economy. The industry has always supported me in the past and I'm grateful for their support this year as well! (sic).”

Rememebring Mr. Deora’s father, the late Murli Deora who was a Union Minister, Mr. Anand said, “He was the biggest supporter and advocate of this industry in Delhi. Hence, I think his son, Milind Deora, is best suited to be the voice of this industry in Delhi, as he has an old family association with this industry.”
