The constituency’s incumbent MP Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front is worth ₹75 crore.

Shukur Ali, a 26-year-old daily wager, is contesting Assam’s Dhubri Lok Sabha seat against the richest candidate — incumbent Badruddin Ajmal of the All India United Democratic Front. A resident of Madati Pahar Basti in Kokrajhar district, Mr. Ali has spent ₹20,000 of the ₹50,000 he showed as cash in hand in his affidavit. He is relying more on social media to get support to defeat Mr. Ajmal, who has assets worth ₹75 crore. “I am contesting because he did not keep up the promise of developing our area,” Mr. Ali said. The other candidates for the seat include Abu Taher Bepari of Congress, Zabed Islam of Asom Gana Parishad, and Nurul Islam Choudhury of Trinamool Congress.
