It’s a political vendetta, says DMK MLA

Income Tax Department officials on Tuesday conducted searches at the house and office of DMK candidate and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi at Kurinji Nagar in Thoothukudi. The searches began around 8.30 pm.

Over 10 officials participated in the raid, which started around 8.30 p.m.

 

Her supporters, who gathered outside, raised slogans against the Election Commission, I-T department, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On hearing the information, MLA Geetha Jeevan rushed to the spot. From inside the premises, Ms. Geetha Jeevan said that the searches were conducted due to political vendetta, and asked her supporters to remain calm.

The searches, which is still going on, comes two days before the polling.

The contest for Thoothukudi Lok Sabha seat is likely to be intense with BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan taking on Ms. Kanimozhi.
